Kenya’s Data Protection Office engages Oracle on Cloud compliance and digital transformation

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner has held a consultative meeting with representatives of Oracle Corporation to discuss data protection compliance and the role of cloud infrastructure in supporting secure digital transformation.

The engagement was led by Senior Deputy Data Commissioner Oscar Otieno and included Oracle executives Anien Coetzee, Managing Director for Oracle Digital Government Suite, and Annick Sakho, Director for Government Affairs in Africa.

Discussions focused on the Oracle Cloud Region and its alignment with Kenya’s data protection framework, particularly in areas such as regulatory compliance, data governance, and the safeguarding of personal data within cloud environments.

Both parties also explored opportunities for collaboration aimed at advancing secure and responsible digital transformation, with an emphasis on building trust in cloud-based systems and ensuring adherence to national data protection standards.

Officials indicated that such engagements are critical in strengthening partnerships between regulators and technology providers, while supporting innovation within a secure and well-regulated digital ecosystem.
