The Rwanda ICT Chamber has
commenced a three-day Usability Testing and Testbed Workshop for the first
cohort of fellows participating in the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship
Rwanda acceleration programme.
The workshop is designed to
help participating EdTech entrepreneurs move from developing digital education
solutions to testing them in real-world learning environments.
Through the sessions,
fellows are being introduced to usability testing and user-centred approaches
that enable them to observe how learners, teachers and other users interact
with their products.
Participants are also
learning how to collect meaningful feedback, identify usability challenges and
determine which aspects of their solutions require further improvement.
The testbed component
provides fellows with an opportunity to validate their assumptions using real
user experiences and evidence from Rwanda’s education sector. The process is
expected to help entrepreneurs refine their products and make them more relevant
and responsive to the needs of schools, teachers and learners.
Previous workshops have
covered safeguarding, Theory of Change, finance, marketing and communications,
equipping participants with knowledge in responsible innovation, impact
measurement, financial management, brand positioning and strategic communication.
The Rwanda ICT Chamber said
the workshops are designed to build progressively on one another, helping
fellows develop solutions that are not only innovative but also usable,
evidence-driven and relevant to the local education context.
The latest testbed exercise
is expected to provide the fellows with practical evidence to guide product
development and strengthen the potential for their EdTech solutions to achieve
meaningful impact and scale within Rwanda’s education ecosystem.
