CCTV+
and the African Union of Broadcasting have signed a Joint Declaration of
Cooperation aimed at enhancing collaboration and amplifying the voice of the
Global South in international media.
The
agreement was formalised during the 17th Annual General Assembly of the African
Union of Broadcasting, held in Banjul. The event also marked the AUB’s 20th
anniversary, celebrated under the theme “AUB, 20 Years Serving African Media:
Heritage, Innovation and Transformation.”

Under
the new partnership, both organisations have committed to strengthening news
exchange, advancing capacity-building initiatives, and expanding content
distribution among member broadcasters across the continent. The collaboration
is expected to address key digital, economic, and content-related challenges
facing African media institutions.
The
agreement reflects a shared objective to promote a more balanced global
information ecosystem by enabling countries in the Global South to tell their
own stories and enhance their presence in international media narratives.
Officials
from both sides described the partnership as a strategic move to transform
Africa’s media landscape, improve access to diverse content, and deepen
cooperation in broadcasting across the Global South.
