The
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has held high-level discussions
with the Government of Australia to strengthen collaboration on digital
development initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
The
engagement took place at the ITU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in
Bangkok, where the organization hosted Dr. Maria Myutel, Director of
Multilateral Engagement – Telecommunications at Australia’s Department of
Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts
(DITRDCSA).

During
the meeting, both sides reviewed progress on ongoing joint projects between ITU
and DITRDCSA, while also discussing priority areas for future cooperation
across the region.
The
discussions focused on aligning strategic objectives, assessing key milestones,
and identifying opportunities to enhance the impact of their partnership in
accelerating digital transformation and connectivity in Asia and the Pacific.

Officials
indicated that the engagement reflects a continued commitment to strengthening
collaboration and leveraging shared expertise to support sustainable digital
development across member states in the region.
The
ITU also acknowledged the Government of Australia’s ongoing support and
partnership in advancing regional digital initiatives.
