The
Bank of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of
the country’s financial system through strengthened collaboration with security
and law enforcement agencies.
Speaking at an inter-agency security engagement held
at Bank Square, Second Deputy Governor Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, representing
First Deputy Governor Dr. Zakari Mumuni, underscored the importance of
coordinated action in tackling financial crime.

She described financial system integrity as a national
security priority, noting that effective collaboration among institutions makes
financial crimes more difficult to execute and less profitable.
The engagement focused on enhancing intelligence-led
operations to address emerging threats, particularly cybercrime and illegal
financial activities.
Mrs. Asante-Asiedu highlighted a
recent operation in Accra targeting illegal online loan operators, which
resulted in the arrest of 420 individuals, including three foreign nationals.
She attributed the success to improved coordination among law enforcement
agencies operating under the Law Enforcement Coordinating Bureau of the
Inter-Ministerial Committee against Money Laundering and Related Crimes.

The Bank
of Ghana stated that the engagement reinforces its ongoing efforts to
strengthen institutional cooperation and build a resilient financial system
capable of responding to evolving risks.
