Egypt’s
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hendy, has held
talks with senior executives from Oracle Egypt to explore opportunities for
collaboration in digital transformation and capacity building.
The
meeting brought together Oracle Egypt Country Manager, Waleed Ahmed, Technology
Director Tamer Gamal, and senior officials from the Ministry of Communications
and Information Technology (MCIT) to discuss ongoing and future initiatives.
Discussions
focused on Egypt’s national digital transformation agenda, including key
projects being implemented across government sectors, as well as efforts to
build digital skills among young people through targeted training programmes
aligned with labour market demands.
A
key highlight of the meeting was Oracle’s initiative to train 150,000 young
Egyptians in cloud computing technologies, aimed at developing a skilled
workforce capable of supporting both local and global digital economies.

The
minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering an
investment-friendly environment to attract technology companies and expand ICT
sector growth. He also outlined ongoing efforts to establish data centres,
strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional data hub, and accelerate the adoption
of advanced technologies such as cloud computing.
Hendy
commended Oracle’s role in equipping youth with in-demand digital skills and
expressed the ministry’s readiness to support the initiative to maximise its
impact.
Oracle
representatives reiterated their commitment to supporting Egypt’s digital
economy through investments in artificial intelligence and cloud technologies,
noting that building a strong local talent pool is critical to accelerating
digital adoption across industries.
Both
parties agreed to organise a workshop to further explore areas of collaboration
in digital transformation, capacity building, and cloud computing.
