The
Africa Earth Observation Challenge (AEOC) Junior 2026 has officially opened for
applications, inviting high school students from Morocco and across the
continent to participate in a space science competition focused on innovation
and real-world problem solving.
Organised
by the Moroccan Initiative for Space Industry (MISI), the competition aims to
engage young learners in the use of satellite data, drones, and other
space-based technologies to address pressing challenges across Africa.
The
programme is structured around three key tracks—Learn, Explore, and
Build—designed to equip participants with foundational knowledge, practical
skills, and the opportunity to develop solutions using Earth observation tools.
Open
to students with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics (STEM), AEOC Junior 2026 also offers participants access to
regional space clubs, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and peer learning
across different countries.
The
initiative is part of broader efforts to nurture the next generation of African
innovators and strengthen interest in space science and technology as a driver
of sustainable development.
Applications
for the competition are open until May 8, 2026.
