Delegates
from Smart Africa’s Council of African IT Agencies (CAITA) are participating in
a study visit in Brussels focused on advancing e-governance harmonization and
Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) across the continent.

The
delegation, representing 10 African countries including Benin, Côte d’Ivoire,
the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, The Gambia, Morocco, Nigeria, the
Republic of Congo, Senegal, and Tunisia, is engaging in a knowledge exchange
with European counterparts aimed at strengthening digital cooperation.
The
visit provides participants with insights into European Union best practices in
key areas such as digital identity systems, trust frameworks, and
interoperability. It also serves as a platform to advance technical work,
particularly efforts to strengthen the Smart Africa Trust Alliance (SATA)
framework.

Discussions
during the visit are expected to contribute to the development of a joint
EU–Africa roadmap for trusted cross-border digital services. The initiative is
seen as a step toward building more connected, resilient, and interoperable
digital ecosystems across Africa.
