The
Office of the Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, in partnership
with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, has hosted 19 space
professionals from around the world under a space-focused International Visitor
Leadership Program (IVLP).
The
programme brought together participants from countries including Angola,
Australia, Bangladesh, Kenya, France, India, and Tunisia, among others, to
explore the role of U.S. space diplomacy in advancing international civil and
commercial space cooperation.
Discussions
during the engagement highlighted the Artemis Accords as a key model for
fostering global collaboration and establishing standards for the safe and
peaceful use of outer space.
Officials
also underscored efforts by the Office of Space Affairs to promote the U.S.
commercial space sector globally by supporting the development of favourable
legal, regulatory, and policy environments for international partnerships.
The
programme forms part of broader U.S. initiatives to strengthen international
collaboration in space exploration while expanding opportunities within the
global space economy.
