The
United States and Italy have reaffirmed their strategic partnership in the
space sector following the second U.S.-Italy Space Dialogue held in Washington,
D.C.
The
meeting brought together officials from the Italian Space Agency and U.S.
government counterparts to advance collaboration in civil and commercial space
activities, while addressing emerging security challenges in the space domain.

Discussions
focused on strengthening joint capabilities to respond to growing geostrategic
competition, with both countries identifying opportunities to deepen
cooperation, including engagement with NATO on shared security interests in
outer space.
A
key outcome of the dialogue was a commitment to collaborate on the development
of a sustainable and permanent lunar outpost. The initiative is expected to
leverage Italian expertise in surface habitation modules, communication and
navigation systems, as well as scientific research aimed at supporting future
missions to Mars.

The
two sides also agreed to remove regulatory barriers that hinder progress in
civil and commercial space initiatives, with the goal of accelerating
innovation and expanding opportunities within the global space economy.
The
dialogue builds on more than five decades of cooperation between the United
States and Italy in space exploration, science, and technology, as both nations
continue to position themselves as leading players in the evolving space
industry.
