IBM,
in collaboration with American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, has hosted a
high-level gathering in Cairo focused on advancing digital sovereignty amid
evolving regional risks and opportunities.
The
event, led by the IBM General Manager and Technology Leader North East Africa, Marwa
Abbas, brought together senior executives from both the public and private
sectors to examine the growing importance of resilience, operational control,
and continuity in digital transformation strategies.

Discussions
centered on the concept of digital sovereignty, with IBM presenting
perspectives on digital, operational, and artificial intelligence sovereignty,
spanning policy frameworks to technological implementation. Participants
explored how organizations can maintain control over critical systems and data
while ensuring uninterrupted operations in an increasingly complex digital
environment.
The
programme featured a panel discussion with representatives from OneBank Egypt,
Citibank, and Vodafone, who shared practical insights on navigating regulatory,
technological, and operational challenges tied to digital sovereignty.

Organizers
noted that the event underscored the importance of collaboration between
industry stakeholders in building secure and resilient digital ecosystems. The
engagement also highlighted the need for organizations to adapt to disruptions
while maintaining service continuity, as digital transformation efforts
accelerate across the region.
The
forum forms part of ongoing efforts by IBM and its partners to support
enterprises and governments in strengthening digital infrastructure and
governance frameworks in line with emerging global trends.
