are initiatives focused on ecosystem development and innovation, reflecting the
government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and technological
progress.
The
legislative agenda includes projects aimed at strengthening protected area
management, promoting biodiversity, and supporting innovation-driven
development across the country. Other priorities highlighted during the opening
session cover the protection of copyright, enforcement of external financial
regulations in WAEMU member states, and Togo’s accession to international
conventions on pollution control, marine environment protection, and nuclear
safety.
The
session was attended by the President of the Senate, Barry Moussa Barqué,
government ministers, including Minister for Relations with Parliament Gilbert
Bawara, and regional and international parliamentary representatives gathered
for the 17th Conference of Speakers of Parliaments and African Regional
Sections of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie. Traditional
leaders, diplomats, and dignitaries also participated in the event.
Prof.
Klassou urged lawmakers to conduct thorough reviews, engage in constructive
debate, and expedite the adoption of legislation, emphasizing that the session
presents “thirteen opportunities to transform our nation and meet the
legitimate aspirations of all segments of our population.”
