The
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance Uganda, Aminah
Zawedde, has held a strategic engagement with officials from the British
Council under the UK’s Digital Access Programme to explore collaboration on
advancing digital skills in Uganda.
The
discussions focused on opportunities for partnership in digital skills
development, artificial intelligence-enabled learning, and policy alignment to
support the country’s digital transformation agenda.

Participants
emphasized the need to move beyond fragmented training approaches and adopt
scalable solutions capable of reaching millions of Ugandans, particularly young
people.
Dr.
Zawedde noted that Uganda’s digital transformation is guided by a structured
national framework that integrates infrastructure, digital skills,
cybersecurity and innovation to deliver inclusive and meaningful impact.
A
key outcome of the meeting was the exploration of AI-enabled learning models
designed to deliver training at scale, including in low-connectivity
environments, as part of efforts to expand access to digital education.
The
proposed collaboration is also expected to support the development of a
national digital skills curriculum aligned with Uganda’s development
priorities.
