Algeria
and Niger have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation
in telecommunications and digital technologies following a high-level meeting
between officials from both countries.
The
discussions took place on the sidelines of the second session of the
Algerian-Niger Joint Grand Committee for Cooperation, during the official visit
of Algeria’s Prime Minister to Niger. Algeria’s Minister of Posts and
Telecommunications met with Niger’s Minister of Communications, Aji Ali
Salatou, alongside senior officials from both countries’ telecommunications
sectors.

The
meeting focused on enhancing telecommunications infrastructure, with particular
emphasis on expanding fiber optic networks and strengthening interconnection to
improve the quality and reliability of digital services across the region.
Both
sides also explored opportunities to collaborate on digital skills development,
including the establishment of digital training centers and the implementation
of joint capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening local expertise in
information and communication technologies.
In
addition, Algeria expressed its readiness to support Niger in the rollout of
new digital and postal services, leveraging its experience in developing
national digital ecosystems.

Officials
noted that the engagement reflects a shared commitment to advancing digital
transformation, supporting economic development, and strengthening regional
integration between the two countries.
