Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Amal El Falah Segrouchni, has reiterated the transformative role of artificial intelligence in Africa’s development during her participation in the 2026 Africa Impact Lectures at Princeton University in the United States.

Speaking as an honorary guest at the fourth edition of the lecture series, Segrouchni delivered a presentation titled “Africa’s Development in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” where she engaged students, researchers, and members of the academic community on the opportunities and challenges shaping the continent’s digital transformation.

She highlighted artificial intelligence, particularly multi-agent systems, as a critical tool for advancing sustainable development, improving public service delivery, and addressing complex societal challenges across Africa. According to the Minister, AI presents a structured opportunity for the continent, supported by a youthful population, expanding innovation ecosystems, and growing investments in digital infrastructure.

Segrouchni also outlined Morocco’s national strategy to position artificial intelligence as a pillar of digital sovereignty, economic competitiveness, and global inclusion. She noted that the country is investing in skills development, strengthening technological capabilities, and fostering a responsible innovation ecosystem aligned with long-term development goals.

The Minister pointed to key initiatives such as the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub, developed in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, and the National AI Debate, which brought together more than 2,000 participants from multiple countries to shape the future of AI governance and innovation.

She further emphasized Morocco’s ambition to serve as a continental hub for sovereign and inclusive artificial intelligence through its “AI Made in Morocco” vision, aimed at reinforcing the country’s leadership in digital transformation and supporting broader African development objectives.

The Africa Impact Lecture Series continues to serve as a platform for high-level dialogue, bringing together policymakers, academics, and industry leaders to explore innovation-driven pathways for Africa’s growth and global competitiveness.
