The
Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian
Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, has held
talks with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat
Hendy, to deepen collaboration on digital transformation and improve consular
service delivery.
The
meeting focused on enhancing coordination between the two ministries to expand
access to digital services for Egyptians both at home and abroad, with
particular emphasis on streamlining procedures through digital platforms.

Officials
highlighted ongoing initiatives, including the digitisation of consular
services via post offices and the Digital Egypt platform, which currently
enables services such as electronic issuance of select certificates for
citizens overseas.
Both
ministers underscored the importance of strengthening information systems,
digital infrastructure, and capacity building, particularly in areas such as
artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analytics. They also discussed
plans to expand digital services based on citizen demand and increase awareness
among Egyptians living abroad.
In
a move aimed at improving access to services, the two sides agreed to extend
the mobile phone exemption period for Egyptians visiting from abroad from 90 to
120 days, effective April 1.

Following
the discussions, the ministers jointly inaugurated the bicentennial postage
stamp of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Egypt Post. The
launch coincides with Egyptian Diplomacy Day, commemorated annually on March
15, and reflects the historical legacy and continued role of Egyptian diplomacy
in advancing national and international engagement.
