KICTANet
has advanced its efforts to promote inclusive digital access through ongoing
training in Garissa County, where participants are gaining practical skills to
navigate digital tools and online services.
The
training, part of the EDACR project, focuses on equipping persons with visual
impairments with accessible digital competencies to enhance communication,
improve access to information, and support independent use of online platforms.
Organisers
noted that participants demonstrated significant progress on the second day of
the programme, applying newly acquired skills in real time and building
confidence in their ability to engage with digital technologies.
The
initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Kenya Society for the
Blind, with support from the British High Commission Nairobi under the UK
Digital Access Programme.
Stakeholders
say the project is playing a critical role in ensuring that persons with visual
impairments are not excluded from the digital ecosystem, while opening up new
opportunities for participation in education, employment, and social
engagement.
