The
Head of the Computer Engineering Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of
Science and Technology has participated in high-level discussions with German
and Ghanaian academic leaders aimed at strengthening research and innovation
partnerships.
Eric
Tutu Tchao took part in the engagement under a Policy Information Visit
organized by the German Academic Exchange Service. The meeting was hosted at
the residence of Frederik Landshöft and brought together representatives from
academia and industry.
Discussions
focused on building sustainable collaboration between KNUST’s biomedical and
computer engineering programmes and German universities, with emphasis on
enhancing access to research infrastructure, teaching resources, and computing
capacity to support artificial intelligence research.

Participants
also explored opportunities to strengthen biomedical engineering capabilities,
including the development of laboratory infrastructure at KNUST and advancing
innovation in biomedical device design.
Industry
perspectives were incorporated into the discussions, with contributions from
Daisy-Gracey Sarpomaah Boadu, while Lydia Aziato, Vice-Chancellor of the
University of Health and Allied Sciences, highlighted prospects for expanding
research and training collaboration in biomedical engineering.
The
visit forms part of broader efforts to deepen academic cooperation between
Ghana and Germany, with a focus on enhancing research capacity, fostering
innovation, and developing skills in emerging technology fields.
