The Head of the Computer Engineering Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has participated in high-level discussions with German and Ghanaian academic leaders aimed at strengthening research and innovation partnerships.

Eric Tutu Tchao took part in the engagement under a Policy Information Visit organized by the German Academic Exchange Service. The meeting was hosted at the residence of Frederik Landshöft and brought together representatives from academia and industry.

Discussions focused on building sustainable collaboration between KNUST’s biomedical and computer engineering programmes and German universities, with emphasis on enhancing access to research infrastructure, teaching resources, and computing capacity to support artificial intelligence research.

Participants also explored opportunities to strengthen biomedical engineering capabilities, including the development of laboratory infrastructure at KNUST and advancing innovation in biomedical device design.

Industry perspectives were incorporated into the discussions, with contributions from Daisy-Gracey Sarpomaah Boadu, while Lydia Aziato, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, highlighted prospects for expanding research and training collaboration in biomedical engineering.

The visit forms part of broader efforts to deepen academic cooperation between Ghana and Germany, with a focus on enhancing research capacity, fostering innovation, and developing skills in emerging technology fields.
