MTN
South Africa has donated digital learning devices to Qibing Secondary School in
Wepener as part of its MTN SA Foundation Back2School campaign, reinforcing its
commitment to advancing digital inclusion in education.
The
handover, which took place on March 20, targeted Qibing Secondary School, a
Quintile 1 institution serving one of the most underserved communities in the
province. The school recently achieved a 100 percent matric pass rate in 2025,
marking the first time in its 46-year history.

MTN
said the initiative goes beyond the provision of technology, positioning it as
an investment in expanding access to quality education and creating
opportunities for learners in disadvantaged communities.
The
donation forms part of the company’s broader national education programme,
which has seen nearly 1,200 digital devices distributed to schools in recent
years. In addition, more than 400 multimedia centres have been established,
while zero-rated digital learning platforms have been deployed to reach
hundreds of thousands of learners across the country.

The
telecommunications operator noted that it continues to collaborate with
district education officials, local leadership, and strategic partners to
strengthen public education systems and support South Africa’s broader
nation-building objectives through sustained digital access initiatives.
