Telkom South Africa has
reported progress in its FY2026 performance, with strong growth from its Mobile
business and continued expansion in fibre and data revenue supporting the
telecommunications group’s strategy to strengthen its core operations.
Speaking after the company’s
Annual General Meeting, Telkom Group Chief Executive Officer Serame Taukobong
said the results reflected the impact of disciplined execution following a year
focused on strengthening the foundations of the business.
Telkom’s Mobile business
continued to perform strongly in a competitive market, while Openserve recorded
full-year revenue growth as the company’s transition towards fibre became
increasingly embedded in its operations.
The group also reported
continued growth in data revenue as its revenue mix increasingly shifts towards
areas it considers capable of generating sustainable long-term value.
Taukobong said Telkom’s
focus was not simply on expanding revenue, but on achieving quality growth
supported by appropriate returns on capital, stronger cash generation and a
prudent balance sheet.
He said the stronger
financial position would provide the group with capacity to invest in future
opportunities while continuing to deliver value to shareholders.
The Annual General Meeting
was attended by South Africa’s Minister of Communications and Digital
Technologies, Solly Malatsi, whose presence, according to Taukobong,
highlighted Telkom’s broader role in the country’s digital and economic
development.
Government remains a
shareholder in Telkom, making the company’s performance and strategic direction
relevant to South Africa’s broader digital infrastructure and connectivity
ambitions.
Taukobong said Telkom would
enter its next phase from a stronger position but would maintain its focus on
disciplined execution. The company’s priorities include strengthening its core
operations, careful capital allocation, extracting greater value from its
infrastructure and capabilities, and building sustainable long-term returns.
He thanked shareholders, the
Telkom board, Minister Malatsi and the Department of Communications and Digital
Technologies, as well as employees across the group, for their contributions to
the company’s FY2026 performance.
