South Africa’s Department of Communications and Digital Technologies has held high-level discussions with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on expanding collaboration around cloud computing, artificial intelligence and the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.

The engagement brought together Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Solly Malatsi and the AWS Sub-Saharan Africa leadership team, led by Tanuja Randery, AWS Vice President for EMEA.

Discussions focused on how public-private partnerships can accelerate South Africa’s digital transformation and expand the use of cloud and AI technologies across government and the wider economy.

The engagement also explored the role of technology in improving public service delivery, supporting innovation, strengthening digital skills and creating new opportunities for citizens and businesses.

AWS said it remains committed to working with the South African government as a technology partner to support the country’s digital development objectives.
