The Communications
Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) Human Resources Development
Committee (HRDC) has begun its first meeting for the 2026/27 cycle, with
members focusing on strategies to strengthen skills and human resource
development across the region’s communications sector.
The meeting, which commenced
today and will continue through tomorrow, marks the start of efforts to
implement the committee’s 2026/27 workplan.
Discussions are centred on
capacity building, equity and parity, with members examining practical
initiatives aimed at expanding skills, knowledge and professional opportunities
across the communications sector.
The committee is also
seeking to strengthen collaboration among CRASA member states and develop
approaches that can support a more inclusive and capable workforce as the
communications industry continues to evolve.
The HRDC’s work forms part
of CRASA’s broader efforts to promote regional cooperation among communications
regulators and strengthen institutional and human capacity within the sector.
The committee said its focus
on skills development and equitable opportunities is intended to help prepare
the region’s communications workforce to respond to emerging technologies and
changing industry demands.
The meeting provides a
platform for member states to share experiences, identify common priorities and
advance coordinated approaches to human resource development across Southern
Africa.
