The Technopolis Development
Authority has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Guodong Network
Communications Group to accelerate the development of next-generation digital
infrastructure at Konza Technopolis in Kenya.
The agreement was signed by
Technopolis Development Authority CEO John Paul Okwiri and Guodong Network
Communications Group Chairman and President Jie Lue.
The partnership establishes
a framework for cooperation covering the planning, investment, financing,
design, development and maintenance of advanced digital infrastructure and
systems at the technology city.
Under the agreement, the two
organisations will explore opportunities in cloud computing, artificial
intelligence and high-performance computing, alongside smart city technologies
aimed at supporting sustainable urban development.
The partnership will also
focus on knowledge transfer and local capacity building, with the objective of
strengthening technical expertise and enabling greater participation by Kenyan
professionals in the development and management of emerging technologies.
Innovative investment and
financing models will form another component of the collaboration as the
partners seek to support the delivery of future digital infrastructure projects
at Konza Technopolis.
The Technopolis Development
Authority said the agreement reinforces Konza’s role as a strategic hub for
digital transformation and supports Kenya’s broader ambition to develop smart,
technology-driven urban centres.
