Niger
has hosted a four-day Internet Governance Forum aimed at advancing dialogue and
collaboration on key issues shaping the country’s digital future.
The
forum was organised with the participation of the Internet Governance Forum
(IGF), ANSI Niger, and the Ministry in charge of digital, led by Adji Ali
Salatou. It brought together stakeholders from across Niger and the wider
sub-region, including representatives from government, industry and civil
society.

Discussions
during the forum focused on strategic themes such as digital sovereignty,
digital inclusion, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Participants
engaged in in-depth exchanges aimed at identifying practical solutions to
strengthen the country’s digital ecosystem.
The
event also provided an opportunity to assess the current state of digital
development in Niger, highlighting both progress made and the challenges that
remain. Stakeholders emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts to
address infrastructure gaps, improve access to digital services and enhance
regulatory frameworks.

Organisers
noted that the forum demonstrated a shared commitment among stakeholders to
drive sustainable digital transformation, with a focus on building an
inclusive, secure and innovative digital environment.
The
outcomes of the discussions are expected to inform future policy directions and
collaborative initiatives aimed at accelerating digital development in Niger.
