Uganda’s Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, together with its partners, has officially handed over the MTN Spark Hub at Kabale University in a move aimed at strengthening youth participation in Uganda’s growing digital economy. The ceremony brought together university leadership, students, community members, and development partners.

The newly commissioned MTN Spark Hub is designed as a digital empowerment platform to equip young people with practical skills and access to innovation resources. It will provide training opportunities and structured programmes in high-demand fields such as data science, cybersecurity, and software development, while also offering a collaborative space for experimentation and innovation.

The initiative is a joint effort involving the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, MTN Uganda Foundation, Centenary Technology Services, and Kabale University. The partners emphasized their shared commitment to expanding digital inclusion and creating pathways for young people to access globally competitive skills and opportunities.

Speaking at the handover, stakeholders underscored the importance of leveraging such hubs to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural communities. They noted that providing access to technology, mentorship, and innovation spaces is critical to building a future-ready workforce.

The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance reaffirmed its commitment to decentralising innovation initiatives across the country, stressing that no region should be left behind in Uganda’s digital transformation agenda.
