Guinea
has taken a step to enhance scientific research and academic performance with
the distribution of 135 laptops to teacher-researchers and researchers, as part
of efforts to modernise the country’s higher education system.
The
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Diaka Sidibé, handed over
the equipment, during a cabinet session held in Kindia. The beneficiaries
include staff from the University of Kindia, IRBAG, CNDE, and IRTG.

According
to the Ministry, the laptops are equipped with tools tailored to support
scientific research and are intended to improve working conditions for academic
staff while boosting research output and innovation.
The
initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the
education sector under the leadership of Mamadi Doumbouya. It aligns with the
national Simandou 2040 programme, which prioritises the transformation of
education, the promotion of research, and the modernisation of institutional
infrastructure.

Officials
indicated that the intervention is aimed at building capacity within the
academic community, supporting applied research, and reinforcing the role of
higher education in national development.
The
move underscores Guinea’s commitment to advancing digital transformation,
fostering innovation, and improving the quality and impact of scientific
research across the country.
