The
Moroccan Initiative for Space Industry (MISI) has underscored the importance of
strengthening intra-African collaboration and accelerating commercially driven
space initiatives during a high-level industry engagement organised by the
African Aeronautics & Space Organisation.
MISI
was represented at the event’s award ceremony, where its Partnership Lead,
Imane El Khantouti, moderated a panel session focused on cooperation projects
across Africa. The discussion brought together experts from key global and
regional institutions, including the European Space Agency, the National Space
Research and Development Agency, and the Gabonese Agency for Space Studies and
Observation.

The
panel examined existing collaboration frameworks and explored strategies to
enhance Africa’s positioning within the global space economy. Contributions
from experts, including space law specialist Marlène M. Losier, provided
insights into the legal and geopolitical dimensions shaping international
partnerships.
A
central theme emerging from the discussions was the need to deepen regional
cooperation while fostering business-oriented space ventures capable of driving
sustainable growth. Stakeholders also emphasised the importance of building
indigenous capabilities alongside leveraging diaspora expertise and
strengthening commercial partnerships.
In
his remarks, Tidiane Ouattara, President of the African Space Council and the
African Space Agency, called for a coordinated approach to unlocking the
continent’s space potential through investment, innovation, and strategic
collaboration.
MISI
said its participation reflects its ongoing commitment to connecting
stakeholders, enabling partnerships, and supporting the development of a
competitive and sustainable space industry across Africa.
