The Deputy Administrator and
CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Nana
Akyaa Amoah-Amissah, has been sworn in as Chairperson of the Information for
All Programme (IFAP) under the General Assembly of the Ghana Commission for
UNESCO.
The swearing-in ceremony,
officiated by the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, was held at the
Ministry of Education and brought together representatives from government,
academia and the private sector.
Speaking at the ceremony,
Iddrisu congratulated the newly appointed executives and described their
assumption of office as an important step towards strengthening Ghana’s
partnership with UNESCO.
He reaffirmed the commitment
of the Ministry of Education and other government ministries represented at the
ceremony to supporting UNESCO’s mission in Ghana, while urging the new
executives to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism and diligence.
Amoah-Amissah’s appointment
to lead IFAP aligns with GIFEC’s mandate of advancing digital inclusion and
expanding equitable access to information and communication technologies.
The Information for All
Programme focuses on promoting universal access to information and knowledge,
making digital inclusion and information access important components of its
work.
Her new role is expected to
provide an opportunity to strengthen efforts aimed at ensuring that
information, knowledge and digital technologies contribute more effectively to
national development.
