importance of partnerships, interoperability and artificial intelligence (AI)
in driving growth and financial inclusion in Uganda’s fintech sector during the
2026 Fintech Association of Uganda Conference (FAFC2026).
The company joined fintech
leaders, founders, innovators, regulators and policymakers on the second day of
the conference, held under the theme “Scaling Fintech Innovation for Inclusive
Growth and a Resilient Digital Economy.”
MTN MoMo Chief Product
Officer Jemima Kariuki-Njuguna moderated a CEOs and Founders Fireside Chat
featuring Ken Njoroge, CEO of PANI Africa; Gerald Begumisa, Managing Director
and Founder of Yo-Uganda Limited; and Claver Serumaga, Executive Director of Equity
Bank Uganda.
The discussion focused on
collaboration, interoperability and AI, and their role in shaping the next
phase of growth for Uganda’s fintech ecosystem.
Speaking during a panel
titled “Fintech Growth Easier Across Markets,” MTN MoMo Senior Manager for
Payments and E-Commerce Violà Namuyaba highlighted the importance of
partnerships in driving adoption and creating long-term value for customers
across digital payment ecosystems.
MTN MoMo said discussions
throughout the conference reflected a shared recognition that the future of
fintech would depend on effective collaboration across the industry.
As digital financial
services continue to evolve, stronger partnerships among fintech companies,
financial institutions, regulators and technology providers will be critical to
expanding access, improving customer experiences and accelerating financial inclusion.
The company said the
discussions reaffirmed its commitment to developing solutions and partnerships
that make financial services more accessible, relevant and useful in people’s
everyday lives.
MTN MoMo also thanked FITSPA
Uganda for bringing together organisations and individuals driving the
country’s digital economy and providing a platform for industry dialogue.
