The International Telecommunications Satellite Organization
(ITSO) has concluded its 42nd Assembly of Parties (AP-42), bringing together
representatives from 85 Parties to consider key matters shaping the
organization’s future work and strategic direction.
The Assembly was held from 30 September to 2 October 2026 and
marked the first Assembly of Parties under the leadership of ITSO Director
General Dr. Renata Brazil David.
AP-42 reaffirmed the continued commitment of Parties to
ITSO’s mission and objectives, with participants considering issues related to
the organization’s future work and strategic direction.
The Assembly was chaired by Ms. Kadianne Wood (Party of
Jamaica), with Dr. Bianca Lins (Party of Liechtenstein) serving as Vice-Chair.
ITSO said the Assembly benefited from the constructive
engagement and continued support of participating Parties and observers.
Partner organizations also contributed to the Assembly,
including Mr. Mario Maniewicz, Director of ITU-BR; Mr. John Omo, Secretary
General of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU); Mr. Oscar G Leon Suarez,
Executive Secretary of CITEL; Mr. Laurent Parenté, Director General of IMSO;
and Mr. Piotr Dmochowski-Lipski, Executive Secretary of EUTELSAT IGO.
SES also contributed to the Assembly. Mr. Adel Al-Saleh,
SES's Director General, delivered a video message during the opening session,
while Mr. Nihar Shah, SES's Director of Strategy, gave a presentation to the
Assembly.
ITSO Director General Dr. Renata Brazil David expressed
appreciation to all ITSO Parties, partner organizations and SES for their
participation and contributions to AP-42 and for their continued engagement
with ITSO.
The
conclusion of AP-42 comes as ITSO continues its work with Parties and
international partners to advance its mission and objectives and shape the
organization’s strategic direction.
