Egypt is participating in the BRICS Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Track being held in Pune, India, from August 17 to 21, as member states deepen cooperation on digital transformation, cybersecurity, infrastructure and emerging technologies.

The programme is being organised by India’s Department of Telecommunications under the country’s 2026 BRICS chairship and brings together communications ministers, senior government officials and ICT experts from BRICS member states.

The week features the seventh meeting of the BRICS Working Group for Cooperation in ICT, the Digital BRICS Forum and Expo, and the 12th meeting of BRICS Communications Ministers.

The ministerial discussions are expected to focus on building sustainable and resilient digital ecosystems, strengthening cybersecurity and trustworthy ICT, developing digital skills and capacity, and promoting innovation, startups and entrepreneurship.

The meeting will also consider the Declaration of BRICS Communications Ministers, which is scheduled to be issued during the ministerial session.

Egypt is also participating in a number of related activities, including the Focus Group on Digital Public Infrastructure, the Council Meeting of the BRICS Institute of Future Networks and the meeting of the Digital BRICS Task Force.

The country’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has previously participated in meetings of the BRICS Working Group for Cooperation in ICT, with ministry experts contributing to the preparation of the working group’s issues note on key ICT challenges and opportunities within the BRICS framework.

MCIT officials and experts from affiliated institutions have also participated in specialised programmes organised by India and China covering secure, sustainable and inclusive digital communications infrastructure, artificial intelligence in communications and digital transformation.

These engagements have also included ICT track surveys and discussions around the Capacity Building Centers initiative, reflecting Egypt’s broader efforts to strengthen international partnerships in technology and digital development.
