Kenya is strengthening
collaboration across government as it moves from developing its artificial
intelligence strategy to implementing initiatives aimed at shaping the
country’s digital future.
Ambassador Philip Thigo,
Special Envoy on Technology to the President of Kenya, disclosed this following
a meeting with Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the
Digital Economy, William Kabogo.
The meeting focused on
Kenya’s artificial intelligence agenda, connectivity and opportunities to
deepen collaboration between the two offices as the country moves from strategy
development to implementation.
Ambassador Thigo said the
discussions were particularly important as Kenya prepares for its upcoming
Internet Governance Forum (IGF) planning meeting and continues efforts to
advance its technology agenda.
He expressed appreciation to
the Cabinet Secretary for his leadership and continued engagement, stressing
the importance of coordination across government in delivering Kenya’s digital
and AI ambitions.
According to Ambassador
Thigo, close collaboration will be critical to building the infrastructure,
technical capabilities and partnerships required to support the country’s
digital transformation and artificial intelligence ecosystem.
He said effective
implementation of Kenya’s AI agenda would require government institutions to
work together to translate policy priorities into practical programmes and
investments.
The engagement comes as
Kenya continues to position artificial intelligence and digital connectivity as
key components of its economic and technological development agenda.
Ambassador Thigo said
sustained cooperation across government would help create the foundations
needed for Kenya to strengthen its digital capabilities and take advantage of
opportunities emerging from AI and other technologies.
