Namibia and India are
exploring deeper cooperation in cybersecurity and digital transformation as the
two countries convene the 4th Session of the India–Namibia Joint Trade
Committee (JTC) in New Delhi.
The two-day session, held
from August 10 to 11, 2026, provides a platform for both countries to review
existing economic relations and identify new areas for bilateral cooperation,
with Namibia’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT)
presenting opportunities in cybersecurity and digital innovation.
During the discussions, MICT
highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in cybersecurity and
sharing successful digital solutions that have been deployed at population
scale. The engagement is expected to support Namibia’s efforts to advance
digital transformation and strengthen the resilience of its digital ecosystem.
The JTC is co-chaired by
Namibia’s Executive Director of the Ministry of International Relations and
Cooperation, Ndiitah Nghipondoka-Robiati, and Amit Kumar, Joint Secretary in
the Department of Commerce of the Government of India.
Hosted by India through its
Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Commerce, the committee serves
as a mechanism for strengthening economic and commercial relations between the
two countries.
Beyond digital technology
and cybersecurity, the discussions cover a broad range of sectors, including
trade and investment, digital infrastructure, health and pharmaceuticals,
agriculture, energy and other areas of mutual interest.
Namibia’s participation in
the JTC underscores its efforts to leverage international partnerships to
strengthen digital capabilities, expand technology cooperation and support
broader national development priorities.
