Young people from seven
regions of Senegal have gathered at the UniPod in Diamniadio to develop their
skills in science, technology, creativity and innovation under the BidewSTEAM
programme.
The initiative, supported by
the UNDP Senegal Office and partners, brought together young participants for
practical workshops focused on emerging technologies, experimentation and
innovation.
During the programme,
participants were introduced to the innovation spaces and facilities at UniPod,
where they explored different technologies and worked on prototypes aimed at
addressing real-world challenges.
The hands-on approach
enabled the young innovators to move beyond theoretical learning and apply
their knowledge to the development of practical solutions. The programme also
provided an opportunity for participants from different regions to exchange ideas
and strengthen their understanding of science, technology, engineering, arts
and mathematics.
The UNDP Senegal Office,
Amadou Mahtar MBOW University, Awa Alyne Daffe, Wave Mobile Money and
STEAMtastic were among the organisations and stakeholders associated with the
programme.
The organisers said the
engagement demonstrated the potential of Senegalese youth to contribute to the
country’s innovation ecosystem and develop technologies capable of addressing
emerging social and economic challenges.
