Namibia’s Ministry of
Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has concluded a five-day
strategic planning workshop aimed at developing the country’s next Nationhood
and National Pride (NNP) strategic plan for the 2026–2031 period.
The workshop, held at the
Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM) from August 3
to 7, 2026, brought together stakeholders from various Offices, Ministries,
Agencies and State-Owned Enterprises (OMAs).
The engagement, spearheaded
by Dr Felix Mukasa of NIPAM, focused on reviewing the implementation and
achievements of the outgoing NNP strategic plan while developing a new
framework to guide efforts to strengthen nationhood and foster national pride
over the next five years.
Closing the workshop, Deputy
Minister of ICT Wenzel Kavaka thanked the participating institutions for their
contributions, saying the collaboration demonstrated the importance of
collective action in building a resilient and cohesive Namibian society.
Kavaka said the input
gathered during the workshop would contribute to shaping a comprehensive
five-year strategy focused on strengthening national identity and promoting a
stronger sense of national pride among citizens.
He reaffirmed MICT’s
commitment to developing a framework that addresses crime prevention and social
challenges while promoting unity, patriotism, cultural heritage and coordinated
nation-building efforts.
The Deputy Minister also
emphasised that nation-building requires collective responsibility, integrity,
resilience and a shared vision for Namibia’s future.
Referencing the words of
Namibia’s Founding President, Dr Sam Nujoma, Kavaka stressed the importance of
unity and collective effort in achieving national objectives.
