Guinea’s Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research has outlined its strategic priorities aimed
at improving the quality of higher education, strengthening scientific
research, and modernising institutional governance.
The priorities were defined
during the first cabinet meeting chaired by Djami Diallo following her
appointment as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The meeting focused on
establishing the direction of the ministry’s actions in support of President
Mamadi Doumbouya’s vision and the Simandou 2040 Agenda, with emphasis on
building a stronger higher education system and advancing national development
through science and innovation.
The ministry identified
three key areas of focus: improving the quality and relevance of academic
training, developing scientific research to support national development, and
modernising the governance structures of higher education institutions.
Discussions also addressed
preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year, with attention on ensuring a
smooth start for students, lecturers, and the wider university community.
At the end of the meeting,
Minister Diallo issued directives to accelerate the implementation of reforms
and strategic projects within the ministry, with a focus on achieving
measurable results.
The ministry said the
reforms are aimed at strengthening Guinea’s higher education ecosystem,
supporting youth development, and positioning scientific research as a key
driver of national progress.
