MTN South Africa engages government on telecommunications growth and digital inclusion

MTN South Africa has held discussions with the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements aimed at strengthening collaboration between government and industry in advancing the country’s digital agenda.

The meeting, led by MTN South Africa CEO Ferdi Moolman and the company’s Executive Committee, focused on the state of the telecommunications sector, industry challenges, emerging opportunities, and measures required to accelerate digital inclusion and economic growth.

Discussions highlighted the importance of partnerships between government and private sector players in expanding connectivity, encouraging investment, and creating an environment that supports innovation within South Africa’s digital economy.

MTN said collaboration among stakeholders remains critical to addressing barriers to connectivity and ensuring that more citizens, businesses, and communities benefit from digital transformation.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to investing in resilient digital infrastructure, expanding access to connectivity, and developing solutions that support economic participation and social development.

MTN South Africa continues to position digital connectivity as a key driver of growth, with the company emphasising the role of coordinated efforts between industry and government in bridging the digital divide and building a more inclusive digital future.
