Safaricom Ethiopia
Foundation is set to support more than 5,500 families across Ethiopia with
educational materials ahead of the new academic year as part of its efforts to
promote access to learning for children from low-income households.
The initiative will see the
distribution of 60,000 exercise books and 11,000 pens to students in nine
operational regions, including North, North East, North West, Afar, West,
Central, South, East 1, and East 2.
The distribution exercise is
expected to begin soon, providing essential learning supplies to students as
they return to school and helping families reduce some of the financial
challenges associated with preparing children for the new academic year.

Foundation said the programme reflects its commitment to supporting the social
and economic wellbeing of communities across its operational areas by extending
its impact beyond telecommunications services.
The foundation noted that
education remains a key pillar for national development and that supporting
access to learning resources can help create better opportunities for children
and young people.
The initiative will be
implemented in collaboration with local stakeholders to ensure that the
educational materials reach students who require the support most.
