The National Agency for Universal Telecommunications and ICT Service (ANSUT) has underscored the critical role of connectivity in advancing both digital and financial inclusion during its participation at APIDE 2026.

Speaking at the event, ANSUT Director General Gilles Thierry Beugré emphasized that universal access to telecommunications services remains a key driver of equitable access to digital and financial services across Côte d’Ivoire. He noted that efforts to expand connectivity are essential to ensuring that all citizens, regardless of location or socioeconomic status, can participate in the country’s growing digital economy.

Beugré stated that digital inclusion and financial inclusion are closely interconnected, arguing that meaningful access to financial services increasingly depends on reliable digital infrastructure and connectivity.

During a panel discussion at the event, Salime Toure of ANSUT reiterated the importance of telecommunications networks in supporting digital transactions. He stressed that every digital financial transaction relies on secure, accessible and dependable connectivity, making telecommunications infrastructure a fundamental component of the digital economy.

Discussions at APIDE 2026 also focused on the challenge of increasing access to smartphones across the country. Stakeholders highlighted ambitions to raise smartphone adoption from 41 percent of the population to 80 percent by 2030, a target viewed as critical to expanding access to digital services and accelerating financial inclusion.

ANSUT said its ongoing initiatives are aimed at strengthening the foundations of a connected and inclusive digital society by expanding telecommunications access and supporting the development of digital infrastructure nationwide.

The agency’s participation at APIDE 2026 reflects Côte d’Ivoire’s broader commitment to leveraging technology and connectivity to drive economic development, enhance financial access and create greater opportunities for citizens in the digital age.
