Senegal’s Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating the country’s digital transformation following a visit to the headquarters of the Sonatel Orange Group in Dakar.

The visit brought together senior officials from the Ministry and Sonatel’s leadership team, led by Managing Director Brelotte Ba, to discuss strategic initiatives supporting Senegal’s digital development objectives under the New Technological Deal and the Senegal 2050 transformation agenda.

Discussions focused on key priorities shaping the country’s digital future, including connectivity expansion, digital sovereignty, cybersecurity, infrastructure development, digital inclusion and the promotion of digital skills. The meeting also provided an opportunity to review ongoing projects and explore areas for enhanced collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Sonatel reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s vision of building a strong, competitive and inclusive digital economy. The company emphasized its readiness to work closely with public authorities to expand access to digital services, strengthen national infrastructure and contribute to the achievement of Senegal’s long-term development goals.

The engagement highlights the important role of partnerships between government and industry in driving digital transformation, particularly as Senegal seeks to position itself as a leading digital hub in West Africa.

The New Technological Deal forms a central pillar of Senegal’s modernization strategy, with a focus on leveraging technology to improve public services, enhance economic competitiveness and create opportunities for citizens and businesses in the digital age.
