Minister
of Communications and Digital Technologies Solly Malatsi has announced the
formal commencement of a transition process aimed at guiding the South African
Post Office South African Post Office out of business rescue, following the
convening of its newly appointed board alongside Business Rescue Practitioners.
The
meeting marked the operational kickoff of a structured organisational reset
intended to stabilise the state-owned entity and reposition it for long-term
sustainability. According to the minister, the newly constituted board will
play a central role in driving reform efforts, particularly in advancing
private sector partnerships designed to strengthen operational capacity and
financial viability.
The
transition process forms part of broader government efforts, coordinated
through the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies Department of
Communications and Digital Technologies, to restore reliable universal postal
and courier services while addressing long-standing structural and financial
challenges within the organisation.
Authorities
have indicated that the reform agenda will prioritise efficiency improvements,
governance restructuring, and strategic collaborations aimed at modernising
service delivery and ensuring the postal service can meet evolving national
demand.
