The
French Ambassador to Ethiopia, Alexis Lamek,
has commended efforts by the Ethiopian Artificial
Intelligence Institute to leverage technology in addressing everyday
challenges and empowering young innovators.
During a working visit to the institute, Ambassador
Lamek was briefed on ongoing programmes and initiatives by Deputy Director
General Taye Girma. The discussions
focused on the institute’s role in supporting youth-driven innovation and
advancing Ethiopia’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.

The Ambassador highlighted the significance of the AI
Startup Hub, describing it as a platform that enables young people to translate
ideas into practical solutions. He noted that the initiative plays a critical
role in fostering creativity and nurturing innovation among emerging talent.
Lamek also expressed optimism about
the potential of such programmes to contribute to broader economic development,
particularly by equipping youth with the skills needed to participate in the
digital economy.

He further indicated that discussions
would continue to strengthen cooperation between France and Ethiopia in the
technology sector, spanning both public and private partnerships.
The visit
underscores growing collaboration between the two countries in advancing
innovation and digital transformation initiatives.
