Nigeria has taken a step toward strengthening national cybersecurity resilience with the convening of an inaugural stakeholder session aimed at establishing a Ministerial Advisory Council for Cybersecurity Coordination.

The session, led by Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, brought together key stakeholders from the cybersecurity, regulatory, and technology sectors to deliberate on the requirements for a coordinated national approach to cybersecurity.

According to the Ministry, the engagement forms part of a broader strategy to enhance collaboration, build trust, and improve resilience within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem as the country continues to expand its digital economy.

Discussions focused on identifying frameworks for effective coordination, strengthening institutional cooperation, and addressing emerging cybersecurity challenges through inclusive stakeholder participation.

The initiative underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to developing robust cybersecurity structures that support innovation while safeguarding digital infrastructure and services across Nigeria.

Further stakeholder engagements are expected in the coming weeks as the Ministry advances plans to formalise the advisory council and deepen collaboration across the sector.
