Konza
Technopolis Development Authority has strengthened international investment and
technology partnerships following its participation in the Kenya–Italy Business
Forum held in Rome.
The
engagement formed part of the official State Visit by William Samoei Ruto, with
the Kenyan delegation engaging Italian counterparts to deepen economic and
technological cooperation.

At
the forum, held on April 20, 2026, Chief Executive Officer John Paul Okwiri
presented during the Infrastructure, Energy and Connectivity session,
positioning Konza Technopolis as a leading smart city and special economic
zone, as well as a gateway to Kenya’s expanding digital economy.
On
behalf of the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy,
the Konza Technopolis CEO signed several Memoranda of Understanding aimed at
unlocking new investment opportunities, strengthening Kenya–Italy technology
collaboration, and accelerating the country’s digital transformation agenda.

The
signing ceremony was witnessed by Lee Kinyanjui, Cabinet Secretary for
Investments, Trade and Industry, and Adolfo Urso, Italy’s Minister of
Enterprise and Made in Italy.
Officials
indicated that the agreements are expected to enhance cross-border
partnerships, attract capital into Kenya’s technology sector, and support the
development of digital infrastructure aligned with the country’s long-term
economic growth objectives.
