The
National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) has
participated in the 13th AERAP Forum, where it joined African and European
stakeholders to advance cooperation in science, research, and innovation.
Speaking
at the forum, NCRST Chief Executive Officer Anicia Peters outlined the impact
of funded research initiatives in Namibia, underscoring the role of strategic
investment in driving national development and innovation outcomes.

In
her additional capacity as President-elect, Prof. Peters also showcased the
work of the Sub-Saharan Africa Science Granting Councils Initiative,
emphasizing its contribution to strengthening research funding systems and
supporting scientific advancement across the African continent.
The
AERAP Forum serves as an annual platform that convenes European funding
agencies alongside African research and science councils. It focuses on
identifying shared priorities, deepening partnerships, and exploring
opportunities for collaborative funding and joint research initiatives.

NCRST’s
participation reflects Namibia’s continued engagement in international science
diplomacy efforts aimed at enhancing research capacity, fostering innovation
ecosystems, and promoting cross-continental collaboration.
