Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera has held discussions with Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E Zhou Ding to explore areas of cooperation in implementing Zimbabwe’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

The meeting follows the recent launch of the strategy by Emmerson Mnangagwa on March 13, marking a key step in the country’s efforts to harness artificial intelligence for economic transformation.

Talks between the two parties focused on practical collaboration, particularly in the development and upgrading of critical digital infrastructure needed to support AI deployment and innovation.

Zimbabwe’s ICT Ministry emphasized that strengthening infrastructure is essential to unlocking the full potential of artificial intelligence and enabling the growth of a resilient and inclusive digital economy.

During the engagement, the minister formally presented copies of the National AI Strategy to the Chinese delegation, signaling a commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation between Zimbabwe and China in the technology sector.

Officials said the partnership is expected to contribute to knowledge exchange, infrastructure development, and the broader implementation of AI-driven initiatives aligned with Zimbabwe’s national development priorities.
