Minister
of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera has held discussions with
Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E Zhou Ding to explore areas of cooperation
in implementing Zimbabwe’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
The
meeting follows the recent launch of the strategy by Emmerson Mnangagwa on
March 13, marking a key step in the country’s efforts to harness artificial
intelligence for economic transformation.
Talks
between the two parties focused on practical collaboration, particularly in the
development and upgrading of critical digital infrastructure needed to support
AI deployment and innovation.

Zimbabwe’s
ICT Ministry emphasized that strengthening infrastructure is essential to
unlocking the full potential of artificial intelligence and enabling the growth
of a resilient and inclusive digital economy.
During
the engagement, the minister formally presented copies of the National AI
Strategy to the Chinese delegation, signaling a commitment to deepen bilateral
cooperation between Zimbabwe and China in the technology sector.
Officials
said the partnership is expected to contribute to knowledge exchange,
infrastructure development, and the broader implementation of AI-driven
initiatives aligned with Zimbabwe’s national development priorities.
