Technopolis has hosted a high-level delegation from Thailand led by Sunanta
Kangvalkulkij, Director General of the Department of International Trade
Promotion Thailand, as part of efforts to deepen economic and technological
collaboration between the two countries.
The
visit brought together Thai information technology professionals and business
representatives seeking to gain first-hand insights into Konza Technopolis,
widely positioned as one of Africa’s emerging smart city developments.
Discussions focused on identifying investment opportunities and exploring
strategic partnerships across key sectors.

During
the tour, the delegation was introduced to Konza’s smart city infrastructure,
including high-speed fibre connectivity, reliable power systems and integrated
urban planning designed to support global business operations.
The
delegation also visited the Konza National Data Centre, a Tier III facility
offering enterprise-grade colocation, cloud services and carrier-neutral
connectivity, as well as innovation hubs dedicated to sectors such as green
technology, biopharma, ICT and the creative economy.

Additional
engagements highlighted Kenya’s expanding digital skills ecosystem through
initiatives such as the JITUME programme, alongside the benefits of the Special
Economic Zone framework, which offers tax incentives and regulatory support to
attract international investors.
The
visit is expected to pave the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation, with both
sides exploring opportunities to leverage technology and innovation for
economic growth and regional integration.
