The
Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to advancing
satellite technology as a key driver of digital transformation and national
development.
This
was conveyed in a goodwill message on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the
Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr.
Nadungu Gagara, at the Nigerian Satellite Week. He was represented by Engr.
Joseph Anagonye, Director of Frequency Spectrum Management.
In
his remarks, Anagonye commended the organisers of the event and expressed
appreciation to stakeholders for their continued efforts in advancing Nigeria’s
digital and space ecosystem. He noted that the Federal Government remains
firmly supportive of initiatives that promote innovation, expand connectivity,
and foster inclusive digital transformation.

He
emphasized the critical role of satellite technology in national development,
particularly in addressing connectivity challenges in underserved and rural
communities, where terrestrial infrastructure remains limited.
Anagonye
also highlighted the contributions of Nigerian Communications Satellite
Limited, describing it as a strategic national asset. He said the organisation
continues to play a pivotal role in expanding broadband access, strengthening
national security infrastructure, and supporting socio-economic development
across Nigeria.
The
Nigerian Satellite Week brought together stakeholders from across the public
and private sectors to discuss opportunities and strategies for leveraging
space technology to drive growth and innovation in the country.
