The International Telecommunication Union has reaffirmed its commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into its operations as part of efforts to better serve its global membership and adapt to the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Speaking from the ITU Innovation Hub, Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin stressed the importance of positioning AI at the core of the organisation’s work, describing it as essential to its mandate as the United Nations agency for digital technologies.

She noted that the organisation is investing in new ways of working to enhance its capacity to respond to emerging technological trends and the changing needs of its members.

The move signals ITU’s intention to strengthen its role in shaping global digital development, with a focus on leveraging AI to improve efficiency, innovation and long-term impact across its programmes and initiatives.
