The
International Telecommunication Union has
reaffirmed its commitment to integrating artificial intelligence into its
operations as part of efforts to better serve its global membership and adapt
to the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Speaking from the ITU Innovation Hub,
Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin stressed the importance of positioning AI at the core of the organisation’s work,
describing it as essential to its mandate as the United Nations agency for
digital technologies.
She noted that the organisation is investing in new
ways of working to enhance its capacity to respond to emerging technological
trends and the changing needs of its members.

The move
signals ITU’s intention to strengthen its role in shaping global digital
development, with a focus on leveraging AI to improve efficiency, innovation
and long-term impact across its programmes and initiatives.
