Algeria
has officially joined the 50in5 Initiative during the Global Africa Tech Summit
in Algiers, signaling a major commitment to advancing secure, inclusive, and
interoperable digital public infrastructure across the continent.

The
announcement was welcomed by Kenya, whose government supports the initiative as
a practical pathway for delivering digital services at scale and unlocking
economic opportunities throughout Africa.
H.E.
William Kabogo Gitau, E.G.H., highlighted that Algeria’s participation
demonstrates the continent’s unified drive to expand access to digital
platforms, improve connectivity, and enhance regional collaboration.
Stakeholders expressed optimism about working with Algeria and other partners
to accelerate implementation and deepen cooperation on continental digital
development.

The
50in5 Initiative aims to establish 50 interoperable digital public
infrastructure systems across Africa within five years, reinforcing governance,
financial inclusion, and public service delivery.
